GRAPHIC DESIGN

Cutting template

The graphic construction must be based on the original cutting template drawing. Upon request, indigodental would be happy to provide you with this drawing in the form of an PDF, EPS or Illustrator file.
The cutting template must have its own assigned colors in the file.

Layout

Bleed-edge elements are to be supplied with an excess bleed-edge of 3 mm. The distance between cut lines and graphic elements should not be less than 3 mm. In general, attention is to be paid to precise placement, especially when using circum-ferential design elements.

Colors

A clear print color legend must be inserted within the document page. There must be a distinct differentiation between spectrum colors and special colors. Finished (varnish, foil or blind embossing) are to be treated like print colors.

REQUIREMENTS DATA & REPRO

Requirements

We accept files in the preferable file format PDF-X3. The file must include clear color information.
We also process files from the following applications. In this case a reference PDF with all fonts embedded has to be included.

  • Illustrator
  • In Design

Fonts are to be converted to paths. All fonts, images and logos used in the files, insofar as they are not embedded, must be sent along with the files. Images can be provided as EPS and TIFF. Please avoid using rough data or compressed formats (e.g. DCS and JPEG). File names must be distinct and identical to the name of the product.

Resolution

In order to reproduce halftone images on a 60-screen rufing, a resolution of 300 dpi is required. The scan resolution of line images should be at least 1200 dpi, with an optimal dpi beeing 2400.

Color separation

Optimal results in folded box printing can be achieved with 4-color separation according to the following criteria:

  • Total value increase of 15 %
  • GCR with medium black generation
  • Maximum color application of 280 %

The parameters set during color separation can no longer be identified when the CMYK image file is transferred to us. We assume that they have been correctly set.
